The city is built from rough-hewn grey stone and dark, age-worn timber. Buildings are narrow and tightly packed, rising two to three stories with steep slate roofs punctuated by dormer windows. Wooden beams form exposed crosshatch patterns across whitewashed facades. Archways of stacked stone connect upper levels across alleys. A central square is dominated by a stone watchtower with a crenellated top, flanked by a long hall with a vaulted wooden ceiling supported by massive pillars. Forges and workshops feature wide, open ground floors with arched doorways, while residential quarters have small, shuttered window openings. The outer wall is a thick curtain of stone, studded with squat turrets and a single iron-bound gatehouse. With a big, encompassing tree in the middle.
