How to turn prompts into Minecraft builds

Follow these quick steps to generate, download, and place BlockGPT creations in your own worlds.

1. Generate

Describe your idea, adjust the scale in settings, and pick the blocks you want it made from.

2. Download

Choose .schem for WorldEdit, .litematic for Litematica, or .nbt for structure blocks when the build finishes.

3. Import

Drop the file into your world with WorldEdit, Litematica, or vanilla structure blocks. Details below.

Generate a build

Set BlockGPT up for success with these prompt habits.

Start with a clear blueprint

  • Edit the scale in settings so the build isn’t too small or too big for your plot.
  • Call out the blocks you want (quartz, deepslate, leaves) so the palette stays on-theme.
  • Keep prompts short and direct—describe the shape and a couple key details you care about.

Push the size

  • Use a bigger size for landmarks and a smaller one for interiors so placement is easier.
  • Mention orientation (front-facing, centered) if you want a specific viewing angle.
  • If you don’t like a block choice, regenerate after swapping blocks in the settings.

Export smart

  • Pick .schem for WorldEdit, .litematic for Litematica overlays, or .nbt for vanilla structure blocks.
  • Regenerate if you want variants—save multiple files and try them in different biomes.
  • Keep your downloads organized by version and theme for quick swaps.

Import into your world

Choose the pipeline that matches your favorite tools.

WorldEdit (.schem)
  1. Place your .schem file in the worldedit/schematics folder.
  2. Run //schem load <filename> then stand where you want the origin.
  3. Use //paste (or //paste -a to ignore air). Adjust with //undo + re-paste if needed.
Litematica (.litematic)
  1. Move the .litematic file into .minecraft/schematics.
  2. Open the Litematica menu → Load Schematics → select your build.
  3. Use the placement menu to align and rotate; follow the hologram to build or paste with a fabric modpack.
Structure Blocks (.nbt)
  1. Put the .nbt file in .minecraft/saves/<world>/generated/minecraft/structures
  2. Place a structure block, set mode to “Load”, and enter the filename.
  3. Preview, rotate, offset, then hit Load again to place it in the world.

Pro tip

Keep experimenting

Try multiple prompts for the same theme—large characters, biome-themed bases, or cinematic landmarks. Swap export types to match servers, creative plots, or survival worlds.
