Ring after ring of massive stone-brick rampart stepping up the hillside, each with square merlons and square wall towers, connected by ramps and stairs, and crowning the whole thing a squat heavy blocky keep with a governor's hall at the top. Enormous thick walls, andesite plinths, mossy weathering, high mountains behind, low fog lying in the terraces, overcast light.
