a 15th-century stone hill fortress ...
a 15th-century stone hill fortress that has never fallen. Grey stone-brick concentric curtain walls with crenellations, massive round bastion towers with conical slate roofs at each corner, a fortified gatehouse with a portcullis and twin flanking towers, a tall square central keep, and a long multi-arched stone bridge crossing a river to the gate. Built into a rocky mountainside, siege-scarred, banners on the walls, overcast grey sky, muted stone-and-moss palette, grounded and military rather than fantasy.
